Took the Rover inlet manifold off last night and found the cause of the oil mist everywhere.18/4/2026
Took the Rover inlet manifold off last night and found the cause of the oil mist everywhere. Two holes in the rusted valley gasket. Replaced with later type and all back together this morning as I'm getting this thing sorted this year whatever. 18 years I've owned it and never used it !
Paul busy with an XK150 that unfortunately is in need of a repaint due to micro blistering all over. We were hoping it wasn't going to be that serious, but it is down to the metal so will be a bit more involved. I don't know why I'm surprised as everything on these cars is worse than you think !
That's an awful lot more than it cost us to build back in the late 80's. Always new it would reappear at some point and what an investment.
One engine bay awaiting something just a little bit different. We've cleaned it but no bling as that would totally spoil the character of this car .
Another Smart looking E type with a bubble on the back of the sill. Open it up and this is what we find. I can't believe these bodged cars are still out there, you think they must have all been done by now due to their value.
Lovely Rolls spirit in for a thorough clean off underneath and a fresh coat of black waxoyl, along with a quick repaint on the sills etc to keep it in top order.
Jaguar X308 with the usual rust in the chassis leg. All three layers cut out and replaced with the correct shaped outer layer. We don't just plate over !
A change of scenery today as the 2CV8 is banished back into storage until it's balanced propshaft comes back and the D type needs it's engine refitted.
